Shaanxi History Museum

Shaanxi History Museum stands in the south of Xian city and covers an area of about 70, 000 square meters. Built in traditional Tang architectural style, the museum is a much modernized national history museum in China.

The museum treasures more than 370,000 cultural relics, all of which are unearthed in Shaanxi province, including relics made of stone, bone, bronze, terra-cotta, china, jade, gold, silver and also murals, seals, calligraphy and paintings, etc. These relics can be traced back from over 1 million years ago to the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and they reflect the history and people life in many aspects from culture, art to science etc. Most of the relics are rare old treasures in the world.

There are three exhibition halls in the museum, display about 3,000 treasures in chronological order.

Admission Fee: Free from Tuesday to Sunday with providing 4000 tickets per day.

Opening Hours: every Tuesday to Sunday from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm (from March 16 to November 14);
everyday Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm (from November 15 to March 15)

Public Transportation: many buses have stops at museum, but the stop is also called: Cui Hua Lu. Bus No. 5, No. 19, No. 24, No. 30, No. 401, No. 610 etc. Alternatively you can take buses to the northern square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and then walk western wards for less than 10 minutes and you will see the museum on the northwest side of a cross.

Tips:
In the museum taking pictures is not prohibited but using flashlights is.

Bags are not allowed to take into the Museum, but free-check service is available at the entrance.
