Xian Tour Guide - Wendy's Poem

Hello, my dear friends from the world,

My name is Wendy Yang and this is an English name given by my teacher in my senior high school. My 'Legal name' is Yang Xing Hua in Chinese and friends call me Hua Hua for simple. I am 27 this year and finished my university in Xi’an 5 years ago and achieved Bachelor degree in English Linguistics. I can also speak a little German. I worked in one tour company for 3 years arranging itineraries and booking hotels as an operator. Then I took this job as a tour guide for 3 years till now. I worked as a local guide in Xi’an for one year and the other 2 years, I am travelling all over China as a tour leader. I am interested in the ancient Chinese culture and I like reading English novels like: Mao’s Last Dancer, the Kite Runner, the Last Chinese Chef, the Lost Kingdom, the Empress Orchid, etc. I always introduce things to my clients in a humorous and lifestyle way instead of just reciting from the guide book. So touring with me, you can not only get 'culture information', you will also know how local people live in China, how do they deal with their family issue, the standard of beauty of Chinese people, the popular fashion and the Chinese medicine, Fengshui and Yinyang, etc. So come on guys, travelling me, you can get more than what you expected. Hereunder please find my itinerary and quotation:

Homestay

The homestay program we offer gives you an unique experience for the culture shock. And it definitely puts on more value for your trip to China. For those who want to explore the local culture and the real people's life, homestay can be your best choice.

  • Daily fee: USD22.00 for one night including simple breakfast (toast with jam or Chinese breakfast).

  • Service: Free use of computer and internet in my flat. Free use of washing machine. I can also take you to the local supermarket or the clothes market to watch local people shopping.

  • Specialty by staying with me and my boyfriend:  Showing you how to cook Chinese dumplings, or Chinese pancakes, or Chinese healthy dishes, or the famous hotpot. If you like, you can have a dinner with us at a small amount of money.

  • Smokers are allowed because my flat has very good ventilation. No pets.

  • Extra notes:
I am a English speaking tour guide in Xi'an myself and I have a 2-bedroom apartment in Xi'an. I live in one room with my boyfriend and the other room is guest room. Stay with me, you can get everything arranged well. I can drive you around at certain expences if you like. I can guide you around to give you commentary about this city. I can also book the flight or train tickets for you for the other places. The most important of all, you can learn a few Chinese cooking here and eat at my apartment. I know the dumpling making, the Chinese steam bread, the hot-pot and "Chicken with peanuts" etc.

  • I live in the north suburb of Xi'an within the 2nd ring road and it takes around 15 minutes to the very downtown area by bus. North suburb is considered to the less development area of Xi'an and you can see more of the old Xi'an. Now a lot of old buildings and "downtown-villages" have been demolished for the purpose of the new buildings. But where I live, up till now, you can still see the live "downtown-villages", which will be demolished as well according to the city planning. It is not that modern, not that western as fancy hotels or high-class apartments, but the atmosphere, the real life of the people is definitely what you are dying to experience. There are 7 floors in the apartment and I live in the 6th. According to the rules of China: living apartment buildings lower than 8 floors are not allowed to have elevator for the land and energy saving, I am happy living on the 6th floor and it forces me to climb some stairs everyday and you know, stair-climbing is very good for your heart. It might be a challenge for you but I surely will help you with your luggage or carry you up (kidding u).
